Getting from Colombo Airport (CMB) to Weligama

Weligama sits on the south coast, roughly a 2.5–3.5 hour journey from Bandaranaike International Airport depending on traffic and which route your driver takes. Here's how the main options compare.

Private transfer (arranged in advance)

The least stressful option after a long flight — a driver meets you at arrivals and takes you straight to your accommodation, door to door, usually via the Southern Expressway. No transfers, no waiting.

Airport taxi on arrival

Metered and app-based taxis are available at the airport, but agreeing a fare and finding a driver willing to do the full south-coast run can take time when you'd rather be resting.

Train (budget option, more effort)

Getting to Weligama by train means first reaching Colombo Fort station from the airport, then taking the coastal line south — scenic, but it's a longer day with connections, and not ideal with heavy luggage or a late arrival.
